Food was excellent. Started with the guacamole (made fresh table side) which was delicious. Ordered the bistec taquitos and enchiladas suizas for the main course and both were superb. Only somewhat downside is small portions for the price. Churros with chocolate dipping sauce for dessert with cappuccinos to top it off - all on point! Would def go back for a second visit.

There's a good restaurant in here somewhere, but it's going to take some serious refinement in the kitchen to bring it out of hiding. Everything we ate was off balance. The tuna ceviche was too sweet, the enchiladas were too spicy, the pozole was too bland. Everything was "too" something rather than being harmonious. The staff were solicitous and friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. Given the dearth of decent Mexican food in the neighborhood I hope that Epazote can make the needed improvements to survive.

The food is really delicious, I can't take that away from them. The guac, the tacos, the corn - so very good. But the decor, bah.... lose the TV guys, it's not a sports bar and it makes the place look cheap. And $12 for two tacos, also not cool.

I honestly was going to give this place two stars but I had to give one extra for the guacamole. It was really unique and different with pumpkin seeds in it and quite good. However, we asked for it spicy and it had absolutely no spice to it. We got the striped bass ceviche which wasn't bad, but again, it had jalapenos and was supposed to be spicy and had no spice. I had been craving steak fajitas which led me to a Mexican restaurant in the first place so I was pretty disappointed to find they had no fajitas on the menu. Instead, I got the grilled skirt steak and was very disappointed. The pieces were thin and did not have a lot of flavor at all. It came with a baked sweet potato which was also completely bland. Seems to go along with other reviews noting that everything lacked flavor. I don't think I will be back here again.

Came here for drinks & guac when it first opened. Beautiful, classy upscale Mexican decor. Huge step up from pitch and fork. We sat at the bar & the bartender was super nice. Guac was very yummy, drinks were prepared well. Though the bar was very quite (one or two other guests?) the service was pretty slow. Wasn't a big issue though. Will def go back for food. A bit pricey, but it's the neighborhood.

Two tacos for too much. They're pretty good, but that's all that came on the plate. Nice atmosphere, had a fondue appetizer that was fine too. Not sure what the French inspiration was, this seems to me a Mexican restaurant

Gourmet Mexican with French wine. Best quesadilas in town. Guacamole made to order table side. Nice comfortable bar. Great staff. Very warm restaurant.

Found a new special place. Excellent service. Help choosing dishes and accommodated different tastes at table from not spicy to liking a little kick. Very attentive! Wine choice excellent to top off the meal. Food fresh, good quality and delicious. Price higher than most Mexican places the offerings are different than the usual. Good atmosphere and mixed age crowd.

We keep eating here and loving it. Very friendly place and fantastic food. We are starting to bring friends here, too.

Boo. Two drinks, a 4-shrimp shrimp mole salad, and a chicken quesadilla with guacamole = $60.00, not including tip. Average taste, above average prices. I do not give this place much time. I liked Pitch & Fork better and Peter's MUCH better.

My course consisted of De Lobina Rayada (sea bass tacos) Spinach soufflé Soaked pear stuffed with ice cream Latte The tacos were generously portioned and fresh tasting. The soufflé was boring. The pear desert was light and had a unique flavor which is the namesake of the place (as I understand it) The room is attractively laid out, warm feel. And to top it off the staff was equally inviting. Over all pleasant meal.

Despite its looks and name. This is not a Mexican restaurant. Went for brunch and ordered the taquitos and huevos rancheros. The huevos were cold and came with a deli sliced tomato and a side of fries, and the taquitos were tacos with mozzarella cheese, bacon, onions and peppers. Everything lacked flavor. The service was decent, but the food is way over priced for the portions.

Made a reservation here for a non-valentine v-day dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. The guacamole station: the best Guac I have ever had. Made fresh from scratch right in front your table and they explain it all. Cocktails were delicious and strong. I ordered the skirt steak and it was done to perfection, juicy and flavorful. Service was really great too with very friendly staff. Atmosphere is cozy and family friendly.

The worst ! Cold and flavorless. I did take out and it was not edible. These guys will not last another month . Restaurant was almost empty.

Yipee! Pitch n Fork has turned into a magically new Restaraunt and you know what? They are nailing it!! Goodbye to that other mediocre Mexican Restaraunt in 2nd in Yorkville, hello EPUZOTE! Happily the same great and oh so talented bar tender was there who performs more of a mixology treat than the usual Ho-hum drinks but the food was really very good and unique! They have a guacamole cart that whips up the best guac' ever, table side. We got an assortment of items to get a sense of what's up in the new kitchen- duck tacos, shrimp quesadillas, tilapia tacos were all so ridiculously good and surpassed our expectations, but wait- they let us do a tasting of the creamy home made chocolate ice cream with jalepeño! We suggested a bit less hot but it's was a very good combination and shows that they are striving for UWS cool factor, and doing it. May I suggest you ask for the outside garden, in season...it's very quiet and romantic back there and so underused!! Great service cannot go unmentioned. I think at least 4 people were making sure we were the happiest people in Yorkville, and we were! A new gem- tell everyone and bring your friends

Finally a good Mexican Fusion Restaurant in the UES. The Chicken Quesadillas, Puerco and Braised Veal Taquitos, Queso de Chorizo y Papas, and Posole Soup are delicious! The wait staff superb and Delivery service on point and within a reasonable time and well packed. Can't wait to go back!

This is more Mexico City high cuisine than neighborhood Mexican, so you are in for a real treat. Casual setting, but upscale food will definitely please. fair prices for the quality.

What a great addition to the neighborhood. We had dinner there last evening and the ambience, service and food all outstanding. The guacamole was out of this world. I had a shrimp quesadilla that came with this amazing sauce. We had the steak and chicken dishes that were both so tasty . Between the food and Marc Anthony music playing, could not have asked for a better experience. Can't wait to return

Good place for Mexican food, beautifully served and lightly spiced. We had a very good brunch with great drinks and perfect service - portions were perfectly sized and we had room for pumpkin cheesecake which was so good. A block from home so we will make this a regular event ! Meets a need in the neighborhood for elegant Mexican dining.
